<![CDATA[Since as early as a week before this trip, Hang as been reminding me that she has a surprise waiting for me, and that it’ll cost me a certain amount of money. I was told far in advance to reserve about $100USD for this “surprise” so that I’d have enough, and I have done that, so no worries there. Today, she decided she couldn’t wait to tell me what it is, and told me early. As a student at Central Michigan University, Hang has developed friendships with many different people, from many different parts of the world. From China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, India and more, Hang has developed a global network of personal relationships that she’ll likely have connections with for the rest of her life. One of these friends is named Gabriela. Many of you reading this post likely don’t know who Gabriela is, or where she is from, but I’ll tell you right now, it is not Vietnam. It also isn’t America… so I guess I’ll be heading to a whole ‘other country then right? Turns out… Hang’s surprise involves me travelling to Indonesia to see Ela as well, and I’ve been told to say quote: “And I love her so much for that… soo… sooo… sooooo much” – It’s pretty much true though. The part that gets me about this is that it’s not $100USD I should have saved… it’s about twice that amount, which throws my entire (already limited) budget out of wack. I’ll need to figure that out as time goes on, but for now I’m just excited about heading out to yet another country. This trip has gone from “Charlie in Vietnam” to “Charlie in Southeast Asia.” Should be a lot more awesome things to see in Indonesia as well! We fly out for a three-hour flight to Jakarta on June 7th, and we’ll be staying in Indonesia for one week. Kinda cool right?]]>
