It's something that pretty much the entire plugin-in world has heard of, and it's somehow growing still. People make protests and get into speeches and public political rallies and interrupt things. They believe they are making some sort of an impact on how this government works. They say they are winning, and while something may end up happening in the end, I don't see them as winning anything right now. Let's get this out of the way, I fully support them, if they get a set cause. What is the "mission statement" of the movement, and do all the members and protestors of the movement know and believe in the same cause fully? I don't believe they do. I think, in a lot of cases, it's a group of people who have been having a hard time in some form or another, and feel a call to get involved in something bigger than themselves. They participate, without knowing exactly what they are doing. I believe for the vast majority of people we see on video today, they do it to be part of something popular, and something viral. To get recognized. There has to be a little truth in this... otherwise, why does this video above exist? Granted, it probably rallies people to the cause, but does it do anything to stop the government from taking political contributions from big corporations? No. Does it prevent presidential candidates from taking huge campaign contributions from private interest groups, so that they owe them favors later that further allow them to rape our wallets and the environment? No. It does get people excited, and motivate them to keep going though. The video is for publicity, but the spotlight was a great idea. The movement in itself is awesome. If it turns out to be effective, and something really does change in our country, the protestors around the country will have played an important role in reshaping our economical and political world forever, and it will be a start of a brand new era of life on this planet. ... but this cannot be achieved blindly. The people need a direct purpose. They all need one, and it needs to be the same. To be effective, they must remain true to a DIRECT cause. You can't gather a huge group of people together who are angry about something, and tell them to write it down on some paper; creating a list of what to protest about. That turns you from an activist group with just cause and momentum, to a large group of whiners. Whiners don't get respect, and if you don't get respect, you'll accomplish nothing. Don't make your stance unless you have a stance, and don't share in an experience with people who do not share the same complaints as you. The movement, right now as I see it, is not organized. It's popping up all over the country, but it's not really all that effective at getting the point across to people. Watch how many people line up for Black Friday sales this year. Watch how many people invest in big companies, and place their money in big banks. Watch how many people will go on with their lives like everything is normal; accepting the way things are. The OWS movement is raising a lot of awareness, and getting people involved. It's not doing so, however, in a way that will get the message to the right people... YET. Soon this might change. Only time will tell. Right now, however, I will say that I agree with what they are doing... as long as they know what they are doing. I agree with the movement, as long as they understand the movement themselves. I encourage these protests, and encourage people to stand up for what they believe in, but only if it's what they believe in (if that makes sense). Get a direct mission statement that everyone can agree with. Get a concrete list of demands, goals that you have set to be reached, or objectives to complete. You cannot be broad. This 1% is more powerful than us in the 99%. They are more influential in the right places, and they are very organized. When you vote in this coming election, remember who can help you most. Remember who can actually make a difference. Not all rich people are bad people. Not all wealthy deserve to be protested against. Not all millionaires deserve such criticism. There are so many people in this world that have worked themselves up to the top, having started from nothing. There are lots of successful individuals who give back, and use their influence to impact the world in a positive way. There are people who have families, and aren't just a guy in a suite that wants all your money. Direct your anger and your protests in the right way. Stuff like the "Mic check" on Obama is justified. The guy gave huge bailouts at the expense of tax-payers to huge companies that should have went under. They shouldn't be here still today. Don't march down the streets of people who agree and support you. There is no logic in that.
