<![CDATA[On this episode of "Things I Learned Today," I talk about a brand new invention that's heating things up in strange ways; and by strange, I mean a welder that uses water as its only fuel source. Now you can weld using water. Researchers Europe wanted to make this well-known process cheaper and safer, and they succeeded very nicely. By separating the hydrogen from the oxygen, they're able to combine the two later for extreme heat, essentially using common and easily accessible water to drive a hot enough flame to weld metal. They call this technology "Safeflame", and its really cool. One awesome benefit to Safeflame is that there’s no actual hot spot just off the tip of the nozzle, thus rendering glare from the flame quite soft and insignificant in comparison to traditional welding. As a result, you don't need to wear special eye protection, and are fine with just regular clear goggles. Also, as a really awesome addition, the byproduct from this method is simply water. It's a very clean process, which is sure to make everyone happy. Small and medium-sized businesses, as well as individuals who have deep enough pockets, will be find this as a great alternative to their current systems, and will likely discover that the technology pays for itself in a very short time.
