<![CDATA[Shopping for groceries in Vietnam here should be a televised event. There are so many people shopping inside, and it’s very crowded. I’m not just saying that as a tall American either. Everybody says it too. A few things I actually like about shopping at this large grocery store we just went to though, is the colors. As you can tell from the photo, there are a lot of colors inside these grocery stores that we just don’t see much in America. Also, they have a wonderful advertising system setup throughout the store as well, with huge televisions everywhere. You can’t see it much from the photo, there are over 6 televisions visible in just this photo alone, and this is just one very small part of the store. This is also the least crowded part as well. I’ve been told of the theft in Vietnam, and I was careful to only take my iPhone out for the picture when few people were looking. It’s still pretty cool how all the colors are there though right? Food is very cheap here as well. It’s actually one of the only things here that are really cheap. Electronics are more expensive, and vehicles are actually three-times more costly to buy here in Vietnam. That’s because these types of things are imported, and imported items cost WAY more than regular items here. The country has a 300% import tax on imported items, so a vehicle that cost $15,000USD in America, will actually run you around $45,000USD in Vietnam. Pretty nuts. Food, or at least the vast majority of food, is all grown here, so these are all tax free, and very cheap. Hang’s mother fed the entire household the other day, with a variety of dishes as well, for under $10USD.
