<![CDATA[Ever made a gingerbread man? It's not the most difficult thing in the world, I'm sure... but this is a house. An actual gingerbread house, and it's enormous. This is found in the lobby of the "Deluxe" resort building of the Vinpearl Island Resort off the coast of Nha Trang. The house stands well over seven feet high, as you can tell by the image with my dad standing next to it (he's 5' 10" tall). The house actually has the texture of real food, which forced us to actually examine it closer to determine that it is indeed real. I'm not sure how much time (or supply) went into making this thing, but it's certainly festive to an unexpected level here on the island. The hotel we stayed at, which I'll be giving a better tour of later on, was decorated with lots of Christmas stuff everywhere. Imagine how odd it is to hear "let it snow" on the hotel radio when it's over 80 degrees outside without a single chance of snow ever falling here. Giant trees in the lobby areas, wreaths hanging from every room door, and the occasional appearance of mistletoe as well. It feels bizarre, but at the same time familiar, as it brings in a little bit of home at the same time. [charliead]]]>
