Aaron “Wheelz” Fotheringham Is My Hero For Today

Meet Aaron “Wheelz” Fotheringham, an awesome x-games version of a paraplegic. Aaron was born with Spina Bifida, a congenital defect of the spine in which part of the spinal cord and its meninges are exposed through a gap in the backbone. It often causes paralysis of the lower limbs, and sometimes mental handicaps. As a result, the mobility in his legs is limited to the point where walking isn’t possible. Aaron doesn’t seem to care much about this disorder though, commenting that he never really bothered to look into the condition all that much, despite it having an impact on his mobility.

Still, even with having to be in a wheelchair, Aaron does stuff that most of us still can’t do, even with both legs functioning. As this video demonstrates, Aaron is super talented, and I’d dare to even say “hard core,” despite his attitude and personality showing us all but the most humble and down-to-earth human being we’ve seen today.

He’s also very motivated and driven by the thrill of stunts on his wheel chair, as people of these extreme sports usually are. After taking a huge fall (on camera, seen in the video), and his body being all scraped up from the crash… Devin Graham (the cinematographer and creator of this video) remarked that perhaps somebody should get him a shirt to cover up his skin a bit more. Aaron just shrugged it off:

“Nah… it’s motivation to land it”
