<![CDATA[Up until this point, I hadn't seen anything out of the ordinary, but as it turns out, Iowa subsidizes the 89 Octane fuel, because of ethanol. I never really paid attention to the news about this stuff, so I was surprised to see that I could get gas super cheap on my way there. At first (when I recorded this video), it didn't really make much sense to me why the mid-grade fuel cost so much less than the regular grade. It took a little bit of digging to understand why this is the way it is. Apparently some states (like Iowa) have a cord-ethanol subsidy, which applies to this mid-grade fuel. The state apparently has a lot of corn (because there is a lot of farm land), so as a result, my fuel was cheaper. I wasn't really aware that this fuel had excessive amounts of corn used to create it though, and had I known that, I don't know if I would have used it. Nevertheless, I trusted that while the fuel may be a little different, the standard signs and markings (like the color of the nossles) would be consistant from state to state, and based on that judgement, I used it. I ended up saving a lot of money on gas by using that fuel too. It also didn't have a noticable affect on my milage, and for that Iowa, I thank you. [charliead]
