Would love your input and feedback. I will always put my own fun-factor above everything else, because it's the life-blood of my efforts on this channel. Without fun, there is no videos, and I want to be as transparent as possible about anything that makes the experience "not fun" for me. — That said, hopefully these words find you well, and you're encouraged to reach out and speak with me on videos. I just love your content Charlie. I don't really care how you play the games. You're a pretty smart guy. I do miss KSP 🙁 But Keep doing your thing. You don't need me to tell you that you're doing a good job… but you are.

There is another aspect besides "expertese" and "helping" to backseating, namely the desire to talk about a common interest.
Especially common in niche games that aren't popular, where people don't have others to talk to about a game that they like.
The commenter just tends to be unaware that the youtuber/streamer often isn't as much of a nerd about the game as they are, or simply just started playing it a short time ago and can't take part in a detailed conversation about the game yet.
Charlie, first I want to say I hope you're dodging the flu bug! At almost 74 I've been pretty lucky warding off the flu bug for many years now. Also, I know I have a tendency to backseat, especially on games I have hundreds or thousands of hours in. However I also do not mind harsh reminders when I forget and go overboard. On yesterday's stream 'find Arhu" I told Robot about a couple clues I noticed, the tufts of cat hair and the smear of blood near the hatch. Didn't bring up the painting on purpose. Later I spotted the 'swornbreaker' during the fight before reload, and passed him a hint or two…got the 'evil eye' for that one, but it worked out.
Love your content Charlie, but admit I haven't commented for a while because I didn't want to spoil anything for you, don't take that as a negative I enjoy seeing you play it your way, and learn new ways of playing from you. Sometimes.. what not to do 😉
Awesome point of view Charlie! I wholly agree with you. I would love to see more Mars? Just starting your Anno videos (I know I'm behind lol). Would love to catch a live stream someday.
Totally agree with you, nothing better than experiencing trial, error and joy of discovery! as you said, i-m not here expecting pro level flawless game, i-m here because i enjoy watching you play
Also, idk how youtube only people works, i know from your streams that you don-t like the backseat gaming, it-s not like you are censoring for "trying to help", it-s being polite and respecting you!
