This Is The Route I’m Taking To Hollywood (Updated)
Like I said in my introduction video to this little trip, I’m traveling about 2,100 miles across the country alone in my car. The Google Map below shows a pretty decent representation of the route I’ll be taking for the journey, and will evolve as I make changes for one reason or another…

To prepare, I’ll have a cooler in my backseat to help with keeping some food and drinks ready in the car. This will help to minimize the amount of stops I have to make on the way. According to the most recent tests of my vehicle’s specifications and performance, I’ll be able to get to my destination with filling up my gas tank seven times, for a total of approximately $385 for gas (one-way). That’s if the price of fuel stays an average of $3.80 per gallon. I’m obviously hoping to see cheaper prices along the way, as it would reduce my costs of travel. I likely won’t stop for fast-food or anything extra that requires money from me, unless it involves stopping for a landmark or attraction of some kind (think Chevy Chase and The World’s Largest Frying Pan).
The car has gotten six quarts of some new full-synthetic oil, a new air filter, new fuel filter, and a tune up. I’ll probably sleep in my car every now and then as well, rather than paying for motels. I’m hoping to leave Thursday, and arrive by Saturday night, if everything goes smoothly.
UPDATE #1: I’ve changed my route to a slightly longer version, which will take me about 100 extra miles, and last for about 1.5 hours longer. The simple reason for this little change, is so I can visit a couple key landmarks that Hang and I wanted to visit when we went to Las Vegas late last year, but couldn’t go to. This new route, as you can see above, takes me to the Grand Canyon, and also up and over the Hoover Dam. It detours from actually being the fastest route, but it allows me to see some cool things (and show all of you cool things too). I’ll have lots of pictures and video for everyone right here on the site when I get there.
The new route will allow me to experience virtually every single type of sight and terrain configuration the continental United States offers, including plains, desert, mountains, canyons, high heat, cold, wet, rainy, windy, a mile high, and sea level. I’ll drive through really cool cities, and see some really cool things.
