Kerbal Space Program [1.1] – Ep 3 – Spacewalk – Let’s Play

Conquering Kerbal Space Program EPISODE 3: I’m picking up where my silly fingers left off (sorry about episode two cutting out suddenly), and we’re flying a plane I made really quick (it’s not a good plane).

Then… We’re putting a Kerbal into ORBIT!! Woot!

The ultimate goal of my Conquering Kerbal Space Program series is to put a fully 100% self-sufficient base (closed-loop) on the surface of every planet in the stock solar system (orbital station on gas giant). We’re running with TAC Life Support and RemoteTech as well, to spice up the difficulty here.

New Episodes will be posted here when they are edited and available, and may take different forms and pace as time goes on. A link to a full post covering the episode will be linked as the first thing in this description.

Kerbal Space Program isn’t your typical game, and as we’re going to find out together, it’s a real challenge, and it doesn’t hold your hand or tell you really how to do anything… and that’s what I LOVE about this!

The first 15 or so videos of this series are actually already recorded! I just have to edit them in between my other work, but at least I can likely get them updated regularly here. If you like this series, be sure to give me a thumbs up letting me know! – We’ll likely start out slow to get you familiar with the basics of the game (I go through things assuming none of you have played it, and assuming none of you know anything about space or aerodynamics).

I hope you enjoy this series as much as I do. This will be a heavily modded play-through with the new KSP 1.1.x version, in 64-bit mode! Woot!

Mod list is located at hottipscentral.com/ksp-mods/ and may change as time goes on. The mod list will always be updated to what I’m using in the latest recording (not upload), and may not actually reflect the mods active in individual videos.

  1. How do you complete the high altitude survey missions? I mean the ones where for example you have to go above 17000 meters. I never managed to get higher than ~12000 with a space plane with early engines.

  3. Just thought I would mention that ablator can be adjusted in assembly. For this flight you used ~25 of 200 and ablator is HEAVY. For Kerbin re-entries I normally drop it to like 50. You can also dump the mono propellant in the command module. When you have a borderline weight these can help. Actually the heat shield is redundant if you are coming back from low orbit with just the CM.

    Nice vids so far 🙂

BTW, I'd add the ForScience mod(best), or Automatic science sampler(I liked Science Alert better than either of these but the dev stopped updating it for now). I saw your final mod list and see you get mechjeb later. I simply won't play anymore without mechjeb and ForScience since launches and science collection gets tedious after a short time lol.

  5. snicker
The runway thing is amusing to me.

"Screw that kerbal-made gravel runway! I'm just gunna turn toward this grassy hill… much better."
